MINE KONRAD – INFRASTRUCTURE ROOMS, DRIFTS FOR AN UG PROCESSING PLANT (LOT 1)
Within the framework of the construction of a repository for radioactive waste with negligible heat generation in the former Konrad iron ore mine in Salzgitter, the necessary infrastructure for the operation of the repository are constructed.
The backfill processing plant areas are constructed on the 2nd and 3rd level and are excavated starting from existing roadways. The contract was awarded in two lots, whereby lot 2 was awarded to another contractor.
The services ordered for Lot 1 essentially comprise:
- Excavation of the pre-crushing room
- Sinking of a bunker
- Excavation of a driveway turning point with washing area
- Enlarging of a section of an existing drivage at the 2nd level
- Excavation of a ventilation hole between the 2nd and the 3rd level
This results in approx. 150 m of new excavations and approx. 50 m of re-cutting work for Lot 1 with a total excavated volume of about 15,000 m³.
Client: BGE Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung mbH
The works were contracted to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Konrad Versatzaufbereitungsvefahren Los 1 (AKV 1) consisting of REDPATH DEILMANN GmbH and Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH.
The project was launched in 2016.
